It all began 13 years ago for Andrew Blowers who at 20 was a young NZ sevens player in 1995 winning the Hong Kong Sevens Tournament. His speed and formidable rugby style impressed the coaches and heralded his entry into the professional era of Super 12 competition with the Auckland Blues where he earned the award of top forwards try scorer and back to back Super 12 champions. This ferocious display earned him the call up to be a part of the All Blacks where he enjoyed a successful 11 test career and was involved in the winning Tri Series in South Africa and part of the 1999 World Cup Squad.
He then left NZ at the ripe age of 24 to make his mark and follow his passion for rugby in the UK to play for Northampton Saints. He made his first appearance in the green/black/gold in November 2000 against Leeds Tykes and went on to clock up more than 100 appearances for the club. In his five years at the club he enjoyed much success winning the Middlesex Sevens and earned the title of a true Saintsman being awarded the Player of the Year in 2003.
He spent a year sabbatical in Japan and then back to his roots in Auckland until again he joined the UK Premiership in the colours of Bristol Rugby where he has already won their hearts winning the Supporters Player of the Year.
